KHOU 11 Wesley Wallace said he's been dealing with monkeypox for about three weeks. He said the pain is so unbearable that "it hurts to exist."
If you test positive for monkeypox you should self-isolate at home until lesion scabs have fallen off and new intact skin has formed below. This recovery period typically takes two to four weeks.
Monkeypox is usually a so-called self-limited disease with symptoms lasting from two to four weeks.
The so-called monkeypox virus can spread from person to person through close physical contact with infectious lesions or pustules, by touching items (like clothing or bedding) that previously touched the rash, or via the respiratory droplets produced by coughing or sneezing.
